Wied il-Għasri

Narrow north-coast inlet at the bottom of a valley. Steps cut into rock down to a swim that nobody else has found yet.

Wied il-Għasri is what happens when a valley meets the sea. The water slips inland through a narrow rock channel — fifty metres long, deep, sheltered — and ends at a small stone-and-pebble bench where you can sit and let your feet go.

Park up at the top, walk down the steps cut into the cliff. It's not a beach in any English sense of the word. It's an inlet. Snorkellers know it; everyone else drives past. Best in the morning before the sun crosses the cliff and the water still holds the night's cool.
