Victoria café since 1998, near the Citadel. The locals' spot that didn't get cleaned up for the tourists.
Café Jubilee has been on this corner of Victoria since 1998, which on Gozo qualifies as old. The walls are dark wood, the photographs and old advertisements have been there longer than most of the customers, and on a weekday morning the same three or four people are reading the paper in the same three or four seats.
It's near the Citadel, but the visitors hovering between coffee and the next museum tend to walk past. The ones who come in stay for a while. That's the rhythm — closer to a Maltese village bar than to anywhere a guide would call charming.
